Post-processing Classic Image, Before and After

This is my first blog of EVAZ Photography. So I decided to start with a post-processing which I had done for the photograph taken and provided by Taurus Nguyen. In Portrait photography beautification is one of the important thing and make the subject look better in eyes catching of the viewers and create a wow factor.

The photo of a "classic portrait" of a beautiful model which has taken 1st of May 2017.

It is an interesting photograph, the light was little harsh on the face and lot of veins has been visible on her body. So I had gone through few steps as mentioned below.

1. First step of my editing, I always create a duplicate copy of original image

2.Removal of blemishes and unwanted marks, sometimes little freckles (some of you may object that). But I prefer to make the model look more beautiful.

3. Skin softening. There are so many ways we can do skin softening, some may go for frequency separation, some prefer surface blurring, some people choose 3rd party softwares to do the same. After all we should get the desired result of soft skin without loosing the texture of skin.

4. Sharpening the eyes, lips, ornaments using a 50% Grey layer and running adjustments on it

5. Removing glares of light from the Model's face. When we use studio lights or external flashes, it may create harsh glares or burnings of highlights on the model. This step is always done on a blank layer, so the original image is in tact and I can come back to the image with opacity and the strength of adjustment.

6. Next step is making the image look like it was taken with more on natural light, for this we need to soften the total look with solid color adjustments

7. Then give a backlight adjustment on the image to protrude the image out of the background

8. Do a gradient fill and vignetting

9. The last and final step before you put your watermark is to give more focus to the image. You need to bring the viewers eyes to the image where you wanted to get their concentration. This is where you need to create a composite layer of all adjustment and run a blur in a very small amount; then mask it out where you want the image to look sharp.
